The story book is a great resource to read to the children to start a lesson or as a piece of assessment in the plenary. No need to buy any special books, just use what you have got already in school. One author who provides a wealth of excellent books to start off engaging science lessons is Julia Donaldson. Her story ’Stick Man’ is most suitable to support Year 2 children looking at the tricky objective ’Alive, dead and never been alive’, although it can be used in other Year groups to support Living Things and Material topics. Click on the folder to download an Education Guru lesson plan explaining how ’Stick Man’ could be used.
