RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch 2019

« Return to News

23rd Jan 2019

It’s that time of year again to get your binoculars out and see which birds visit your school grounds between 26th - 28th Jan to support the Great Bird Watch. It’s a great way to get the children involved throughout the school to observe over an hour which birds are visitors to the school playground. They can then use identification keys to find out whose, who. Fits in well with animals and human topics and can lead to some great classification and Identification keys.

This survey also presents some nice cross curricular links with maths and computing when the children have to feed back the data online.

There is a useful pack you can download to find out more. They could then make some bird feeders and fat balls to help the birds in the frosty weather which links nicely to changing materials.
