How could we have missed them ?
Ok, so these seven new planets are not in our solar system but in the Trappist-1 Solar system. On the 22nd February 2017 scientists discovered seven rocky ‘earth like’ planets orbiting a dwarf star called Trappist-1. This star which is a lot smaller and cooler than our sun is 235 trillion miles from Earth. If you were to stand on one of these seven planets, which are so close together , it is estimated you would be able to see the surface of another. It is thought that the temperature of at least three of the planets may be at the correct temperature to have liquid water on them. Scientists are hoping that they will know within a decade whether they have life on them.
