10.3 million people watched the first episode of the second series of Blue planet. With such an amazing appeal, why not use this programme to help create a sense of excitement in the classroom?
Year 1 teachers need to introduce their children to variety of common animals including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals, Year 2 looks at food chains, Year 3 look at skeletons of organisms, Year 4 looks at different environments and the organisms within them, Year 5 looks at lifecycles of plants and animals and Year 6 looks at classification and adaptation in greater depth.
All of these lessons could use the Blue Planet 2 and the organisms shown in the programme, as a stimulus. Don’t forget to look at the plants in the sea too.
