Education Guru hoped you had a restful Easter Break and we welcome you back to the Summer Term although it really doesn’t even feel like Spring yet!
During the Easter break we have been keeping abreast of the amazing successes of the Team GB at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast of Australia. At the moment, England are second on the leader board for the medals with a whopping 87 medals in total with Scotland and Wales not far behind with 35 and 25 medals. But as we know it’s not all about winning the medals but the perseverance and resilience that these athletes have displayed in order to get to the games to take part that really matters. Using the games to get the children involved in sport and team games can really enhance their wellbeing.
And don’t forget the science behind the games! Why not explore the materials that the athletes wear and use to take part in their sports, the forces behind events like the sailing and the cycling events and the diets they eat in order to be top of their game. The opportunities are many and help the children connect science in the classroom to worldwide events.
There are teaching resources to help you make the most of the learning opportunities that the games provide created by the Australia Government available to schools. To find out more follow the link to Embracing Learning
