FREE COURSE-Using Stories & Poems to Support Creative Science

« Return to News

23rd Jun 2020

Stories and poetry are an excellent way to engage children in science by bringing creativity and the everyday science into your lessons. Find out how to use your favourite poem or story to teach your science objectives. Would they be able to identify which type of tree the Magic Faraway tree was? Perhaps they could work out why the fairy lights keep going out in Michael Rosens poem. Maybe they could help classify the magical creatures in Fantastical Beasts. During this online Science Snacklet we will explore all sorts of exciting ways to teach science using children’s favourite books and poems.

As a result of this Snacklet, you will be able to:

• Enthuse your children to be able to plan, carry out, and evaluate investigations that will develop their science skills and knowledge.
• Create alternative learning opportunities to develop pupils’ progress in science.
• Develop cross-curricular links to other areas of the curriculum.

This Science Snacklet is a FREE course which will run on June 24th 3.30pm to 5pm
Suitable for: Class Teachers / Subject Leaders / TAs / PGCE Students / Parents
