Earlier in the summer we posted to encourage you to get involved with The Great Butterfly Count for 2020. More people than ever got involved counting butterflies and the results are now in!
Sadly, even though many more counts were submitted than ever before, the number of butterflies observed dropped dramatically.
These results could lead to further investigations for your students linking to the Biology strand of the NC for example in Year 4
• recognise that environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things
or Year 5
• describe the differences in the life cycles of a mammal, an amphibian, an insect and a bird.
Using real scientific data with children also fulfils the Working Scientifically strand of the NC.
