13. Read, Write And Speak Science

Can you teach key literacy and language skills while making science fun and exciting for children? In this course, we demonstrate the wealth of opportunities for linking science and literacy and how to engage children while generating curiosity and enthusiasm. We look at how you can develop children`s speaking, listening, and writing through effective science teaching and how you can plan lessons in which children communicate their scientific ideas and learning. We will also examine at how you can track and assess children`s progression in literacy through science.

As a result of this course, you will be able to:
 

• Generate science activities that develop core language and literacy skills in a fun and engaging way.

• Identify imaginative science contexts in which to teach literacy and language skills.
