Mental Health England First Aider Youth Training
Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) for Youth is an internationally recognised training course, designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis to children and young people.
Education Guru can facilitate this training in your establishment or online to raise the awareness of your staff around their own mental health and that of the children they support. This training is facilitated over two days and is suitable for teachers, admin staff, dinner supervisors, governors, parents – basically anyone who comes into contact with children!
The aim of the government is to have a Mental Health First Aider in every school and college by 2025.
As a result of this course you will have :

An in depth understanding of young people’s mental health and factors that affect wellbeing.

Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues.

Confidence to reassure and support a young person in distress.

Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening.

Knowledge to help a young person recover their health by guiding them to further support.

Ability to support a young person with a long term mental health issue or disability to thrive.

Tools to look after your own mental wellbeing.
It focuses on the issues faced by young people today, such as cyber bullying and substance misuse, and teaches how to promote protective factors and good parenting.
Each participant receives a Youth MHFA manual, and on completion of the course digital certification as a Youth Mental Health First Aider.
