Bring your primary biology lessons to life by taking part in the Big Butterfly Count 2026 between 17 July and 9 August! Pupils can develop their Working Scientifically skills by observing, identifying, recording and interpreting real-life data, while contributing to one of the UK's largest citizen science projects.

If there's not enough time before the end of term, it's the perfect activity to set for the summer holidays, allowing children to take part with their families and continue their science learning beyond the classroom. Who knows – they might even spot Britain's favourite butterfly, the Peacock!
