Using more unusual animals to stretch the more able children when classifying is a simple way to differentiate. They may be surprised to know that mouse deer are amongst the smallest hooved mammals in the world.
Recently a tiny mouse deer, born during lockdown at Bristol Zoo, only measured 20cm (8ins) tall to its shoulder, the height of a pencil. Why not challenge your class to to find other more unusually sized animals?
