Did you used to watch Newsround with John Craven as a kid? Perhaps you are not quite that old but this year Newsround celebrates 50years of being on the air waves. And its still going strong albeit with a diverse range of six presenters.

So why is this relevant to science? We teach science so that our children understand the world they inhabit and can link it to events and changes they see occurring, so using one of the many clips available from Newsround can be a great way to start a science lesson or a discussion leading into further research or an investigation. Thus helping the children make the links between the science they do in the classroom and world events.
