Have you looked at the Sustainability and Climate Change: a strategy for the education and children’s services systems paper yet?
The focus on sustainability and teaching it in the classroom is gaining momentum and rightly so and there are so many opportunities within science lessons to talk and teach about this.
“In the Children’s People and Nature Survey for England: Summer holidays 2021, more than 8 in 10 children and young people (85%) agreed that being in nature made them very happy. However, the same study showed that children spend less time outdoors as they get older &
feelings of connection to nature decline with age”
We want can help slow this down by taking our children outside during science lessons to explore the world they live in. If you would like to find out more why not join one of the courses we are running this year: ‘Help how do I teach sustainability in science lessons’ Email hester@educationguru.co.uk for more information.
