Looking for signs of spring fits beautifully with the Year 1 Season Science content and other classes can link to their science content too. Get involved with the survey below from the The Royal Society of Biology and challenge your children to identify and spot the animals and plants mentioned:

In partnership with the Field Studies Council, the The Royal Society of Biology is inviting people across the UK to look out for ten key Signs of Spring. Bluebells, daffodils and snowdrops in flower, bumblebees, butterflies, damselflies and dragonflies, frogspawn, hazel catkins, active ladybirds, and the year’s first lawn cut.

Get involved throughout the year by recording when and where you saw it, and the weather conditions at the time. Your observations will help to build a clearer picture of spring’s progression across the UK. The survey will run from 5 January - 14 June.
