One of the types of working scientifically that we want to encourage the children to develop is Pattern seeking. One way to develop this is by doing surveys. You may be used to collecting data about eye colour, or height or hair colour but how about helping the WWF and British Antarctic Survey with their Walrus Detective survey? By getting involved with this survey children can see real science in action and be part of helping to protect this amazing mammal.
